You know what people often really need when they are feeling down? Someone who will truly listen. Make an attempt to be more positive and people will instantly warm to you. Negative people are soooo draining, and they make you want to keep your distance. People naturally want to be around positive people, because it makes them feel positive and chirpy too. Helping others will make you feel good whilst also leaving a clear trail of sparkle in your wake. If someone falls over, help them up, if you can see someone is having problems with something, give them a hand. Be there for your friends in their time of need, and help strangers who are struggling. Help those in needīe that person who is always on hand to help. Try not to beat yourself down or be overly critical of the person you are and how you look. When someone is confident, it clearly shines through and others notice.

Be confidentĬonfidence obviously has a big impact on the amount of sparkle you have. People will want to hear your stories and will be inspired by your contribution to important causes. What cause do you care about the most? Volunteering for a cause that you feel strongly about can bring you great satisfaction, and it gives your life more meaning. Volunteer for a cause you feel passionate about Thinking badly about others can be very detrimental to your well-being, it’s no fun being constantly bitter.

Plus people will begin to be wary of you and won’t be willing to trust you. No one wants to be around people who always criticize and gossip about others. If you only see the worst in people, you can live a very bitter existence. If you get someone to smile then you will have instantly improved their day. Make others laugh by the things you say, acting stupid and doing funny things together. You can make people giggle in your own special way. You don’t have to be a hilarious comedian to make people laugh. So if you, like me, want to leave a little sparkle wherever you go, why not try doing some of the following things. I just want to do simple things that will make my life, and occasionally others lives better. I don’t expect to save the world or become rich and famous. So I am trying to come up with some rules to live by to ensure I lead a happy and fulfilled life. I would much prefer it said something interesting, and reflected upon the sort of person I became.

When I die I don’t want my gravestone to say ‘Kiri was successful in her career, made lots of money and was generally an OK person.’ No sir. Let’s face it, you only get one shot at this whole being a human thing, so you best decide what sort of human you want to be. Real, genuine meaning, not superficial or temporary fixes. Lately I have been trying to do things that add meaning to my life. It’s what you do with your life and how you can enhance people’s lives that matter. It doesn’t matter what sort of personality you have, you can leave your own stamp on people. I certainly won’t be super jolly and joyful, and smile at everyone I see, because that’s not me. I intend to keep this quote in mind and try and continue to leave sparkle wherever I go. It’s a lovely expression, and it makes you feel as though you have something to offer this world. It says ‘You leave a little sparkle wherever you go.’ It really struck a chord with me. I got a card for my birthday which has inspired me to write this post.
